seminar series
We invite you to our monthly seminar, co-sponsored by the University of Minnesota Program in Health Disparities Research! The seminars provide a platform for professionals and researchers to gather and present their work to the community. Our upcoming seminar, “Honoring Data Sovereignty In Research with American Indian Tribes and Communities,” will take place on Tuesday, April 14, at 12:00 - 1:00 pm CT. Dana Carroll, PhD, MPH, and
Wyatt Pickne will be presenting.
Dana Carroll and Wyatt Pickner will discuss the vital role of data as a strategic asset and a part of cultural heritage for Tribal Nations. This presentation will highlight the importance of respecting Tribes' authority over their biological and informational resources through Self-Determination. It will also share valuable lessons learned in maintaining data sovereignty across four key research milestones: governance, consent, biosample management, and dissemination. We invite you to join us in exploring this critical topic more deeply. The event is free and open to everyone.
** Please note that all titles are considered working titles and are subject to change up to at least one month before the event takes place. This event is free and open to the public!
