Investigator Development
Our goal is to provide vital support to post-doctoral fellows and early-stage investigators(ESIs) who are addressing the disparities in cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and related chronic conditions (RCC) that disproportionately impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities. We aim to foster direct participation from those most affected by these health disparities, who have been historically underrepresented in science and medicine (URSM). Our focus is to bridge the gap by providing ESIs with the necessary institutional resources and structural support they need to succeed in their critical research endeavors.
Nurturing the next generation of health equity investigators.
To address this goal, the Investigator Development (ID) Core has two primary aims:
Support and empower the development of innovative pilot projects led by diverse early-stage investigators (ESIs) to address cardiovascular disease (CVD) and related chronic condition (RCC) disparities in Minnesota's BIPOC communities.
Create a comprehensive program called Support and TrAining for Research Success (STARS), which includes workshops, seminars, networking opportunities, and research resources tailored for early-career health equity researchers to promote preparation, productivity, and advancement in research.
